It was in 1954 that Roy Richter founded the helmet division of Bell Auto Parts Inc.
In 1957, they introduced the most innovative helmet in motorcycling history, the 500 TX, a design that is now displayed in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
In 1971, Bell changed the name of the 500 TX to the R-T, a style that carried on well into the eighties.
The new version of the R-T, seen here, features a multi-composite shell incorporating technopolymer and carbon fibre strands for extra protection. And a leather padded interior that can be removed for cleaning.
